Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. The National Breast Cancer Foundation raises awareness about the impact it can have. It's important to be aware and knowledgeable about the facts.

Did you know?

·      1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer in their lifetime

·      An estimated 287,500 new cases were diagnosed in 2022

·      65% of cases are diagnosed at a localized stage when the cancer hasn’t yet spread

·      Finding the cancer at a localized stage has a 5-year relative survival of 99%

·      There is over 3.8 million breast Cancer Survivors in the United States

     Early Detection can be found by doing monthly breast self-exams and scheduling regular clinical breast exams with mammograms. Living a healthy lifestyle can help lower the risk of breast cancer as well. Important factors of living a healthy lifestyle include; being physically active, keeping a healthy weight and eating those fruits and vegetables. Finding out about your family history is also very important to be aware of. These things can all help to keep you and your loved ones healthy.
